Tarragona, 1973.
A defender of ambiguity as a poetic position, Vanessa Pey constructs dreamlike and wild worlds. She evokes raw affective states in an emotive and atmospheric way. She articulates existential climates that revolve around misty identity conflicts that traverse a variety of bodies and objects subject to violence, oppression, repression and oblivion. She shows a genealogy of things that share cracks, both literal and metaphorical, where gender binarisms dissolve. Characters in the midst of agitation, anguish, anger and disorientation that lose their anchor to a recognizable or delimited space and that force us to question our own identity states. Fragilities, desperations, thresholds and triumphs are projected or printed in large formats. Photography and video are the media that allow her to overlap a bold diversity of textural, poetic and frictional layers.
