Sergio Preciado Fàbregas (Barcelona, 1987)

Sergio Preciado is a self-taught artist who showed a deep affinity for drawing and painting from a very young age. Without formal training in Fine Arts, he has developed his talent independently, exploring technique and emotion from a personal perspective that combines hyperrealism with elements of abstraction.

His paternal grandfather—also a painter—was his first major influence. Thanks to him, he discovered the patience, observation skills, and attention to detail that define his artistic identity today.

During his adolescence, he went through a complex period marked by family difficulties and experiences of life on the streets, a time that exposed him to diverse human realities. Far from turning him away from art, these experiences eventually became the emotional and philosophical foundation of his work: a constant exploration of identity, resilience, and spiritual expression.

At 17, he traveled to Cuba for the first time, where he was deeply fascinated by Afro-Cuban culture and his Yoruba roots. This fascination later led him to Nigeria and Benin, where he deepened his understanding of this ancestral tradition. His connection to Africa transformed his artistic perspective, imbuing his work with a strong symbolic and spiritual component.

After a long creative hiatus, Sergio returned to painting at the age of 33 with a renewed perspective. His current work explores the intensity of the human face, emotional depth, and the representation of Yoruba deities, reflecting both his life journey and his inner growth.

Sergio Preciado’s work is presented as a testament to resilience, introspection, and cultural connection, a visual narrative that unites life experience, spirituality, and the expressive power of color and form.
