Nuno Carvalho’s work unfolds in a hybrid territory where his pieces, made with diverse materials such as plastic, fabric, wood, ceramics or cement, configure a system of objects that seem to exist in different states of the same temporality.

This contemporary art exhibition in Barcelona brings together sculptures and paintings that function as moments or phases of a single process. The familiar and recognizable objects appear displaced from their original function, revealing the passage of time through use, wear, or transformation.

The works suggest a structure in which different states of matter coexist, placing each piece at a different point in a cycle in which matter is never stable, but is in transit.

Read together, the works propose a reflection on how objects can contain different layers of time, generating an experience in which past, present and material transformation coexist in the same space.
