Gallery of African art in Barcelona

The objective of the Sergi Sánchez African Art Gallery is to immerse yourself in the commercial and cultural circuit of African art in Barcelona. The gallery’s collection is made up of hundreds of African tribal artworks, mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Each piece in our collection has been carefully selected and cataloged by the gallery’s founder. Over more than thirty years, Sergi Sánchez has accumulated a collection of primitive art of great importance, which reflects not only his numerous trips and expeditions to Africa, but also his commitment to African culture. Each work tells a unique story, while capturing the essence and diversity of African cultures, turning our gallery into a visual testament to the continent’s rich history.

We bring you African art to Barcelona

The collection of African art and primitive art is the result of negotiations carried out with local antique dealers, as well as expeditions made to various towns.

Throughout his travels, Sergi Sánchez has lived with different ethnic groups such as the Yoruba, Baulé, Dogon, Mossi, Chamba or the Nok, tribes originating from the current Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo or Nigeria. His immersive travels have allowed him to learn first-hand about the rich culture, history and essence that these communities and African tribal art contain.
